Es bien conocido por sus acrobacias y películas con un poco de humor en la que hay muchas escenas de peleas con artes marciales increíbles, pero los actores solo suelen mostrar su lado positivo ante las cámaras… que sus propios hijos no quieran saber nada de él dice muchísimo sobre el famoso Jackie.
Se casó en 1982 y poco después tuvo a su primer hijo, Jaycee.
Empezó por no tomar muy en serio sus votos de fidelidad y se le conocieron varias aventuras extramatrimoniales.
Una de esas mujeres, llamada Elaine tuvo una hija de él en 1999 a la que llamó Etta Ng Chok Lam y Elaine la crió sola.

Cuando su éxito llegó a Hollywood, Jackie Chan empezó a tener mala fama con respecto a la paternidad. Una vez dijo que su primer hijo, Jaycee fue un accidente y que por ello se casó con Joan.
En el 2014 su primer hijo fue arrestado por posesión de drogas y fue enviado a prisión por 6 meses. Jackie Chan nunca lo visitó.

Con su hija es otra historia. Etta y su madre vivieron alejadas de las cámaras en Hong Kong y se veía que la joven no tenía prisa por mejorar la relación con su padre. A sus 15 años dijo: “El no es mi papá. No tengo sentimientos hacia él.”
